Tong Ill Moo Doo Federation Chairperson Master Clarence Mwakio Ingalwa has lauded the partnerships already exhibited during the just concluded eleventh edition of the Tong Ill Moo Doo Mombasa Open Championships.

Speaking at the Aga Khan Academy in Mombasa County, during the closing ceremony on Wednesday, Master Clarence also added that the little known federation will only grow through partnerships with the sports journalists taking center stage.

” We have come far and can only thank God that through our baby steps, the media with sports journalists have held our tiny hands, guiding us through tough terrain as we grow together. The ministry of sports has also been influential in making sure that such international events are executed with success as Kenya’s name continues to fly high globally,” said Ingalwa who also chairs the sport’s respective federation in Africa.

World Tong Il Moo Do Federation (WTIF) president Grand Master Takamitsu Hoshika, witnessed the event and was quick to add to Ingalwa’s comments saying that there are great efforts with ongoing talks for the sport to be included in the Olympics.

“I am happy with what Kenya is doing and leading the rest of Africa. Such competitions are a gauge to where we are continentally and also globally in efforts to grow the sports as we also think of one day participating in the Olympics, that’s our dream,” said the world governing body boss.

Ingalwa emphasized the need for media support in his efforts to grow the sport in Kenya with already making the federation’s presence being felt in 12 Counties adding that by the year 2025, Tong Ill Moo Doo will have reached all 47 Counties.

Sports Journalist Association ( SJAK) chairperson James Waindi who was flanked by Secretary General ( SG) Moses Wakhisi and Ex co member Abuller Ahmed assured Ingalwa and Hoshiko of media support, with the People Daily and the K24 TV Sports Editors together echoing that journalism efforts in coverage will push the sport to another level in terms of growth.
