Kenya is now ranked at number 31 globally and seventh in Africa according to World Netball rankings that were released last Friday.

Speaking on Tuesday from Nyeri County Kenya Netball Federation (KNF) chairperson Immaculate Kabutha confirmed the news adding that the country’s men and women have toiled in blood and sweat on the court of play and made sure that Kenya has improved on rankings as compared to the yester years.

“This is a massive improvement as compared to where we were. Our men just recently won a bronze medal during the just concluded Africa Netball Cup in Gaborone while our ladies finished at fifth place, an achievement we want to build on as we head into 2024.” said Kabutha.

The Africa Netball Cup that ended in Gaborone, Botswana on December 6th, saw Kenya’s men surpassing their expectations at the UB indoor Sports Arena when they finished at position three while their women counterparts endured a tough time missing the podium finish by only two positions.

“The ladies took time to gel because we now almost have a new team. Six of our regulars missed this trip due to injuries, illnesses and other personal issues. We brought in rookies who really impressed us and I believe with their performances, our under -21 ladies national team will be amazing since they fall into that age bracket.” said KNF Secretary General Millicent Busolo.

Kenya has now improved on the continental rankings jumping from position eight to now seven as well as the global rankings having previously been ranked at position 32.

Kabutha and Busolo promised an action packed 2024 calendar year full of international competitions that will help improve the country’s quality of players even as they seek to get youngsters from grassroots levels
