Brewing giant Heineken, whose iconic beer brand Heineken is distributed locally by Kenya Wine Agencies Limited (KWAL), will this weekend host a themed event in Nairobi, bringing together football fans to watch and celebrate the UEFA Champions League final.
The event dubbed UEFA Cup Final match viewing will be at the Uhuru Gardens in Langata on Saturday evening. The UEFA final match will be played at the Wembley Stadium in London featuring Borussia Dortmund against history-seeking Real Madrid, as they battle for one of the world’s most prestigious club football titles.
The match-viewing event will be followed by a fun-filled party also sponsored by Heineken. It will feature Grammy award-winning songwriter and musician Bien, once a member of the globally acclaimed Kenyan band Sauti Sol.
KWAL Commercial Director Jonas Geeraerts says Heineken is world-renowned for championing fan experiences and inclusivity in the world’s most popular sport.
“This time we wanted to give football fans a unique experience by having one of the most popular Kenyan performing artists grace the event. Heineken is redefining what being a football fan means by creating a more positive and welcoming space to enjoy the game together and have fun,” said Geeraerts.
He added that the choice of Bien to perform at the show was deliberate to give the event a local touch. “Heineken®️ is here to do great things and support local talent, hence the choice of Bien, rather than an international artist. Even the choice of Uhuru Gardens as a venue is meant to showcase this beautiful place with historical and cultural significance to Kenyans.”
Heineken is one of the world’s leading beer brands, founded over 150 years ago in the Netherlands. Heineken has been a sponsor of the UEFA Champions League, Europe’s most prestigious club football competition, for thirty years and renewed its sponsorship in September last year, for the period 2024-2027. Heineken is also a proud partner of UEFA Women’s Football since 2021.
