The Cabinet Secretary ( CS) for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports,Hon. Ababu Namwamba EGH on Wednesday afternoon flagged off Kenya Adaptive Boxing Federation para boxers set to participate in the Sevens Stars Para boxing night in Poland on 29th June this year.

Speaking in Nairobi during a ceremony held at his offices , the CS emphasized the importance of international opportunities, noting that Kenya is currently ranked number one in Africa for para boxing

“This ceremony is very special because it reflects the inclusivity agenda and as you know inclusivity is a major theme in the whole agenda of the government. I am delighted that para boxing is now a recognized sport, ” said the CS.

Former boxer Elijah Mringie will coach heavyweight Evans Absalom Odhiambo and flyweight Emanuel Agavihi Yakhama in Poland’s capital city Warsaw in an event dubbed the Seven Stars Para boxing Night that will be held at the Podlaska Arena on 29th June.

Mringie has been taking his crew through para boxing paces at the YMCA Hall in Shauri Moyo Nairobi, over the past month and now Federation chairperson Olongo has said that there are two more other international events in this year’s calendar.

” We should be having an event in England and another one in Canada before the end of this year, so my boxers already have a busy calendar. I am hoping that they will only get better because we need Kenya to top the world rankings in Para boxing,” said an excited Olongo who also thanked CS Ababu’s efforts in supporting para boxing, former Nairobi Gorvernor Mike Mbuvi ‘ Sonko’ and Nairobi Women Rep Esther Pasaris who have been their greatest well-wishers that have aided para boxers financially in several occasions.
