Cash strapped Shabana FC will now have a reason to smile and perform better after signing a three year sponsorship deal with gaming company Sportpesa worth Ksh 75 million that will be spread over a period of three years.
Speaking during the signing of the sponsorship deal and cheque presentation in Nairobi, club chairman Jared Nivaton Ombongi was delighted praising Sportpesa for the financial boost and promised their fans that this season will be different.
” We have big dreams to compete with other big clubs here in Kenya for the KPL league title, but financial hitches have been out biggest problem. Thank God that has been resolved and we are going to make a Statement this season,” said Ombongi.
The Kisii County based Kenya Premier League ( KPL ) club will begin it’s 2024/2025 league season this Saturday away in Kiambu County at the Thika municipal stadium against home side Bidco United Fc.
Tore bobe survived last season’s league campaign by the skin of their teeth, finishing a dismal 14th place on the KPL table standings that had 38 points accrued from playing 34 games that had only ten wins , eight draws and 16 losses.
The Sammy Omollo led side will now have a reason to smile with only a day to go before all eyes will be on them away in Thika, a nail biting encounter against Anthony Akhulia’s side who finished at a decent 11th position last season.
According to Sportpesa, the Shabana FC sponsorship deal is valued at KES 75 million over the next three years, with KES 25 million allocated per season.
