Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK) FC thumped Police Sacco Staff FC 6-4 in a pulsating football battle held at the Police Sacco Stadium in Nairobi on Thursday.
The scribes found the back of the net through Erick Ochieng , Stephen Ochieng, Samuel Ayoo, Brian Amulyoto, Timothy Olubulu and Mathew Tuta.
In reply, the law enforcers notched their goals through Jared Samuel (brace), Mike Gabby and Ken Machoka.
Both sides had a balance of power in the opening five minutes of the encounter before Erick tested Police custodian with a screamer that narrowly went over the bar.
After that, an avalanche of goals ensued with the rivals tying 2-2 before the breather.
On resumption, the journalists breathed fire, breaking the deadlock with two successive goals to take a 4-2 lead at the 70th minute before the ten-goal thriller ended 6-4 to the journalists favour.
Police Sacco FC captain David Allan Oduor acknowledged their effort in the match admitting that they were let down with defensive lapses which cost them the deserved victory.
“Great effort today from us.The result is not what we were expecting but there is always next time,” Oduor told sjak.co.ke.
“Lack of effective concentration saw us concede three quick goals in the second half and this is what smoked out our dream.
Nonetheless, we all achieved the main objective of the encounter which was to network, know each other and market the Sacco.”
SJAK FC coach Gregory Mulemi thanked the opponents for the great fixture saying the two entities will engage in more friendly games in the future to strengthen their relations.
“It’s another great performance from us from the worthy opponents. We look forward to many more like this as we continue to network and know more and embrace the Sacco,” stated Mulemi.
SJAK FC is set to face the Ex-Internationals on October 1 at Dandora Stadium, with hopes of avenging their 2-1 loss from the last encounter.
