Sports Journalist Association of Kenya ( SJAK) Football Club won by four goals to two on Saturday against Kick Off FC during a friendly match played at Camp Toyoyo Stadium in Nairobi.
This win comes on the eve of winning yet another tournament earlier on in the week on Tuesday at Dandora Stadium when the scribes beat former Harambee Stars players by the same margin in the finals of the World International Elderly People’s Day.
” We are gelling on well and am happy to see all sports Journalists coming together to play football. I can proudly say that we are now more united than before and our aim at the office is to bring more unity of sports Journalists through football,” said Dorine Opili who is an Ex Co member at SJAK.
During Saturday’s extravaganza, Ghetto Radio’s Meme Kareithi opened the score sheet in the 15th minute before Kick Off equalized and went ahead to take lead at the break.
Radio Jambo’s Sports Presenter Gregory Mulemi who is the coach made six changes for the second half that saw Standard Media’s Brian Amylyoto scoring with his first touch to level the scores to two apiece after coming in for fellow company writer Erick Ochieng Oyugi.
Mulemi’s tactics worked well with the sports Journalists piling more pressure on the opponents defensive lapses, a situation that opened up freelancers Bracho Ayoo for a third and Zacharia Ochiel for a final fourth.
SJAK will now take a six day break before taking to the field again, welcoming back association chairperson James Waindi after a month long sabbatical to lead the forward line alongside Nation Media’s Tv sports Presenter Elijah Ouko who is back from Germany after covering the just concluded Berlin marathon.
Others expected next week are marauding wing back Geoffrey Mwamburi from Citizen radio who has been out with a hamstring injury, attacking midfielder Moses Wakhisi who is also the association Secretary General ( SG) , stopper Fred Maingi who is a seasoned sports writer, mediamax’s photographer David Ndolo -an anchor man on the pitch of play and Standard Media’s Washington Onyango who missed his flight from Kisumu yesterday.
Head coach Gregory Mulemi will communicate next week’s program by Thursday.
