KNF trains 87 from 25 Counties

Kenya Netball Federation ( KNF ) concluded a five day Umpires and Coaches training workshop on Saturday in Nairobi that attracted 87 participants from 25 Counties countrywide.

Speaking at the closure of the event that was held at the Ulinzi Sports Complex indoor Arena, federation president Immaculate Kabutha was optimistic that netball in Kenya was on the right trajectory of growth praising the interest shown by the coaches and umpires.

” We have been here for five days and the knowledge gained is priceless. It is also important to see different coaches and umpires from allover the country coming together to learn and bond because that’s what we need to develop the sport in the country,” said Kabutha.

Under the guardianship of Suleiman Hassan, KNF assistant fixtures secretary and Samuel Angasa, national team manager the two chief instructors also invited national team coach Mugisha Ali for the classes.

The closing ceremony was presided over by Elizabeth wamalwa who is the assistant commissioner of sports , ministry of youth affairs, creative economy and sports who emphasized that learning is a continuous process beneficial to sports men and women who are competing at high levels internationally.

“Capacity building is very important in sports federations for the purposes of growth. The world is rapidly changing and so must us of we want to compete against top nations and win big ,” said Wamalwa.

KNF action now shifts focus to both the men and women national teams currently at a non residential camp in Nairobi preparing for the upcoming Africa Netball Cup in Namibia from 9-14th December this year.
