Loice Chepkwemoi Dominates the Women’s 10KM
Uganda’s Loice Chepkwemoi stole the spotlight in the senior women’s 10KM, clocking 34:32 to claim a historic win on Kenyan soil. The reigning African 3000m steeplechase champion outpaced Ethiopia’s Molla Mekides Shimeles and Kenya’s Celestine Biwott, who finished in 36:43.
“I didn’t believe I could win here,” she admitted. “This victory proves my training is on the right track as I work toward qualifying for the World Championships.”
For Kenya’s Celestine Biwott, the race marked a comeback after a hiatus for job training. The 21-year-old bronze medalist in the 3000m steeplechase found the competition a perfect test for her fitness.
“It feels good to be back,” said Biwott. “This is just the beginning as I aim to push further.”
Samuel Chebolei Triumphs in the Men’s 10KM
The senior men’s 10KM witnessed a masterful performance from Samuel Chebolei, who clocked 30:49 to edge out Robert Kiprop Koech (30:58) and Mathew Kipkoech Kipruto (31:12). Chebolei’s well-executed strategy paid off as he surged to victory in the final stretch.
“This was a tactical battle,” Chebolei explained. “This win boosts my confidence as I prepare for the 10,000m and road running events leading to the 2025 Tokyo World Championships.”

In the women’s 6KM, Cynthia Chepkurui emerged victorious with a time of 21:17, showcasing impeccable pacing and resilience. Close behind were Yvonne Jepchirchir (21:43) and Joyline Chepng’eno (21:50).
“This win is a step closer to securing a spot on the national cross-country team,” said Chepkurui.
In the junior men’s 8KM, 16-year-old Kelvin Kiprop Biwott delivered a standout performance, finishing in 24:37 ahead of Andrew Kiptoo Alamisi (24:48) and Edwin Sanuti (25:22).
“This is a dream come true,” said the young Biwott. “I dedicate this victory to my coach and family.”
