The Pro Active Legends Initiative hosted the first-ever Beach Soccer Tournament at Buntwani Waterfront Park in Malindi, Kenya, showcasing the growing popularity of the sport in the region. The event, which took place from 9th to 12th December, brought together teams from across the country to compete on the sandy beaches of Malindi.
Alongside the tournament, Pro Active Legends organized a beach soccer course for referees and coaches in partnership with Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Football Kenya Federation (FKF). The course provided valuable training and certification for local officials and coaches, further developing the infrastructure for beach soccer in Kenya under the tutilage of Deo Mutabazi,Ivan Bayige Kintu and Salim Jamal Muwonge from Uganda.

This event not only highlighted the incredible talent of our Kenyan players but also demonstrated the growing interest and potential of beach soccer in the country. We are committed to continuing to grow and develop the sport at the grassroots level,”,” said Terry Ouko, Chairperson Pro Active Legends Initiative.
The tournament was made possible through the support of several partners, including the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), Kilifi County Government,MCA-Hella Ward, Malindi, Buntwani Waterfront Management, Sofascore, Tuungane CBO -Kilifi, Purpose Sports, Oray Foundation, and FUFA. Additionally, Pro Active Legends partnered with the Fun Spot Skating Club and BMG for Charity Kilifi for beach clean-up and climate action initiatives.
The tournament featured a total of 8 teams, 4 in the men’s category and 4 in the women category competing in a series of matches. Pro Active Legends and Tuungane FC emerged victorious.
The success of the event has sparked renewed enthusiasm for beach soccer in the community, in Kenya, and the Pro Active Legends Initiative is already planning for the next edition of the tournament.
