Kiviasi wins Tujiamini Gold Award.

2022 Africa championships gold medalist sprinter Dan Kiviasi Asamba, a specialist of the 100 and 200-metre races bagged a cash award of Ksh 500,000  for winning the Tujiamini Initiative Nationwide Gold Award.

Speaking on Tuesday evening in Nairobi, the Utawala Sprint Club athlete said that his Nationwide Tujiamini Gold victory promises a thrilling chapter in his career.

“My growth in the field has been gradual but steady and this win feels like a culmination of everything I’ve worked for over the last ten years. I now have an incredible opportunity and financial resources to help refine my training including adoption of scientific metrics in my preparation and performance regime,” said Asamba adding that his focus now is to qualify for the upcoming indoors athletics season with an immediate focus on the World Athletics Indoor Championships in China, March 2025 followed by the World Athletics Championships set for Tokyo Japan in September the same year as part of his preparation towards the 2028 Olympic games.

Asamba who is also a Kenya Prisons officer is coached by seasoned athletics administrator Perpetual Muthoni Mbutu who is also the founder of Utawala Star Sprints Club who praised him that he is arguably the best sprinter in the Prisons department, truly deserving the award due to his work ethic and commitment to the sport said Muthoni.

The sprinter’s victory brings to a close the Tujiamini Initiative that kicked off in February 2024, Powered by SportPesa with goals aimed to identify and nurture promising sports and sports related talent receiving over 22,000 submissions covering eight regions and one nationwide entry, benefitting 750 winners in the Gold, Silver and Bronze categories.
