Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) league champions, the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) men’s handball team, will face SOS from Burundi in the semi-finals of the 42nd edition of the East and Central Club Championship on Friday evening in Kigali, Rwanda.

NCPB dominated Juba City with a 62-10 victory in their quarter-final match on Thursday, maintaining their winning streak in the regional competition. SOS secured their semi-final spot with a 46-37 win over Cobra City (South Sudan).

In another semi-final match, debutants APR will take on Rwanda Police in what promises to be an exciting encounter. The latter, having participated in the competition four times, is expected to leverage their experience against their opponents.

To reach the semi-finals, APR defeated fellow Rwandan team UB Sports 47-30, while Rwanda Police overcame compatriots Gicumbi 32-22.

NCPB coach Brian Mathews remains optimistic that his team will continue their strong performance and successfully defend their title.

“SOS is a good team, but I believe we are ready for the challenge. We’re not taking any chances and are going into the match as the better-prepared side,” said Mathews.

The Millers will also be bolstered by the return of key players from injury, a development the coach welcomed.

“Our key players are back and will be part of the squad. Playing as a cohesive unit has been our strength, and we intend to stick to that approach in this match,” he added.

Juba City will play a classification match against Cobra City, while UB Sports will face Gicumbi in another placement match. In the women’s category, Rwanda Police will play against the University of Kigali (UOK).
