Kenya Adaptive Para Boxing Federation on Monday handed over uniforms to Kenya para boxing national team that is set to participate in the Sevens Stars Para boxing night in Poland on 29th June this year.

Speaking at the YMCA Hall in Shauri Moyo, Nairobi, Federation chairperson Mary Atieno Olongo was excited that Kenya para boxing landed the Poland invitation and said that more competitions abroad will expose her athletes to international events which will make them better.

” We are getting there slowly. We need these kind of international events to make my team better. Our goal is to have boxers qualifying for bigger events like the commonwealth and Olympics games,” said Olongo adding that the ministry of sports through Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has been of great help to her charges and if that will continue, then Kenya will soon have para boxers at global events bringing gold medals.

Former boxer Elijah Mringie will coach heavyweight Evans Absalom Odhiambo and flyweight Emanuel Agavihi Yakhama in Poland’s capital city Warsaw in an event dubbed the Seven Stars Para boxing Night that will be held at the Podlaska Arena on 29th June.

Mringie has been taking his crew through para boxing paces at the YMCA Hall in Shauri Moyo Nairobi, over the past month and now Federation chairperson Olongo has said that there are two more other international events in this year’s calendar.

” We should be having an event in England and another one in Canada before the end of this year, so my boxers already have a busy calendar. I am hoping that they will only get better because we need Kenya to top the world rankings in Para boxing,” finished Olongo.

The contingent of three, Elijah Mringie and his boxers are scheduled to flagged off by Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba on Wednesday before jetting off later in the evening to Warsaw, ready for their big night on Saturday.
