BCLB CHAIR DR LINET MWIKALI UNDERSCORES WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT AS BANGBET DONATES FOODSTUFFS TO WIDOWS AND ORPHANS

Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB) Chairperson Reverend (Dr) Jane Makau has underscored the need for women’s empowerment in society ostensibly to promote gender equality.

Speaking during the commissioning of the Kako Comprehensive School borehole as well as food donations to widows and orphans of Makueni County, Dr Mwikali remarked that women play a critical role in the community and need to be empowered through education, awareness, literacy, and equal status in society. During the occasion held at Kako Comprehensive School, licensed betting firm BangBet Limited made a generous donation of Christmas food packages to widows and orphans in the Kako area as an act of compassion and love and in the spirit of giving and sharing ahead of the festive season.

Dr. Mwikali thanked BangBet Limited for their generous support, reiterating that the donation is an act of kindness to the community and, indeed, “women who are the society’s caregivers and homemakers.” “The food donations will offer widows and orphans in this community an early Christmas as we approach this festive season. Through this generous donation, Bangent has demonstrated a deep understanding of these principles of compassion that remind us that giving is not only a corporate obligation but a humanity of faith. I applaud Bang Bet in their efforts to bring smiles to the community,” Dr Mwikali, who was born and raised in the Kako area, remarked.

The event attracted over 1000 women and orphans in the region, and Principal Secretary of State Department for Devolution Teresia Mbaika Malokwe and the President’s Advisor on Women’s Rights, Hon. Harriette Chiggai. Also in attendance were Mbooni East Sub-County DCC-Dalip Abdi and Eng. David Maithya Makau. Chief Officer – Water and Sanitation, who represented Governor Mutula Kilonzo Junior.

The meeting was also attended by Principal Secretary of State Department for Devolution Teresia Mbaika Malokwe and the President’s Advisor on Women’s Rights, Hon. Harriette Chiggai. Dr Mwikali also lauded Hon. Chiggai’s initiative in empowering women in the community, adding: “Your dedication in uplifting communities’ advancing national development inspires us all. We deeply appreciate your leadership.”
